Suggested more flavours:-
For the Sauce:
2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
1 medium onion, chopped
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) (optional)
1 tablespoon sugar
Salt to taste
Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Method:
Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients with the chicken pieces. Massage the spices into the chicken, ensuring they're evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably overnight, for maximum flavor absorption.
Cook the Chicken: Heat ghee or oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
Build the Sauce: In the same skillet, sauté the onion until softened and translucent. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and kasuri methi (if using). Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Creamy Bliss: Add the heavy cream and sugar to the sauce. Season with salt to taste. Gently return the cooked chicken to the pan and simmer for another 5-7 minutes until heated through.
Serve with Love:
Garnish your masterpiece with fresh cilantro and serve alongside fluffy naan, fragrant basmati rice, or your preferred sides. Dive into a symphony of creamy tomato, fragrant spices, and tender chicken – every bite is a testament to the timeless magic of butter chicken!
Tips:
For a smoky flavor, grill or pan-sear the chicken before adding it to the sauce.
Adjust the chili powder or cayenne pepper to your desired level of spiciness.
Substitute cashew paste for a richer, creamier sauce.
For a gluten-free option, serve the butter chicken with quinoa or brown rice.
Leftovers (if any!) can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
