Aloo Tikki Chaat: The Perfect Snack for Any Occasion

Aloo Tikki Chaat is a popular Indian street food that is made with fried potato patties, sweet and sour tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney, curd (yogurt), and other tidbits. It is a tangy and flavorful dish that is enjoyed by people of all ages. Here is a step-by-step recipe to make Aloo Tikki Chaat:



Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder.
  • 1/4 cup corn flour.
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs.
  • Oil for frying.


For the chutneys:

  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp.
  • 1/2 cup jaggery.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1/2 cup mint leaves.
  • 1/2 cup coriander leaves.
  • 2 green chilies.
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala.
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1/2 cup curd (yogurt).


Instructions:

  1. Boil the potatoes until they are soft and Mashable.
  2. Peel and mash the potatoes in a bowl.
  3. Add salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, chaat masala, garam masala, and black pepper powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix well.
  4. Add corn flour and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Mix well.
  5. Divide the mixture into small balls and flatten them to form patties.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and fry the patties until they are golden brown.
  7. Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  8. To make the tamarind chutney, mix tamarind pulp, jaggery, red chili powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
  9. To make the green chutney, blend mint leaves, coriander leaves, green chilies, chaat masala, and salt in a blender. Add a little water if needed.
  10. To assemble the chaat, place the patties on a plate and add a spoonful of tamarind chutney, green chutney, and curd on top of each patty.
  11. Garnish with chopped onions, tomatoes, and coriander leaves.
